(Resolved) Instructure Reporting Issue with Gradebook and (DocViewer) Files

Instructure is reporting issues with Canvas SpeedGrader and DocViewer/Files. CIRT and ITS are aware of the issue and are working with Instructure to resolve these issues as soon as possible. Instructors can check the Instructure Status page for updates or return to this page on CIRT LMS news for updates.

Update 9:17am: In the meantime, if instructors are having issues viewing or downloading files in Canvas SpeedGrader, it is still possible to download submissions manually.

Update 9:50am: More specifically, all Canvas users (instructors and students) may be having trouble viewing documents within the Canvas browser/DocViewer. Files can still be downloaded and edited on the user’s desktop.

Update 4:00pm: Canvas, UNF’s learning management system, was experiencing issues with the DocViewer and SpeedGrader that prevented files from opening in Canvas for faculty and students. [Resolved] Canvas Outage – The Website Under Heavy Load

Update (10:52 am): Instructure is reporting the issues with error pages and slowness as resolved. Please contact cirtlab if you are still experiencing issues.


 

Update (9:20 am):  Login now appears to be working for some users, but course loading time may be slow. The vendor has identified the issue and a fix is being implemented.


 

Update (8:48 am): Canvas, UNF’s learning management system, is currently unavailable due to an issue with the vendor’s network. The following error is appearing for some users:

We are investigating the issue now. This post will be updated when the issue has been resolved.

[Resolved] Canvas Outage – Gateway Time-Out

UPDATE: Users experienced errors when attempting to access Canvas from 4:29PM until 4:59PM today. This issue appeared to be vendor-related, and the vendor has announced the issue resolved. If users continue to experience issues please contact CIRT or the ITS Help Desk.

ORIGINAL: Canvas users are experiencing long load times and/or 504 page time-out errors when accessing the LMS. This issue appears to be vendor-related. Instructure is aware of the outage, and they are working on implementing a fix.

Canvas Outage – Dropped Enrollments and Groups Memberships [Resolved]

On Jan 21 CIRT and the ITS Helpdesk received numerous reports of Canvas courses being unavailable to users. The enrollment package that runs at midnight each night appears to have removed a large number of users from their courses. A fix was applied and access to Canvas courses was restored for all users at around 1 pm.

The following day, some users were still reporting issues with group memberships after Canvas course access was restored. At 7pm, group memberships within courses were restored for all students. Please contact CIRT at cirtlab@unf.edu if you have any additional questions or concerns.

Zoom Partial Outage [RESOLVED]

Some users are experiencing issues when attempting to start or join Zoom meetings, and when attempting to log in to Zoom.

Zoom is aware of the issue and is working on a fix. You can check the status of the issue on Zoom’s Status Page, and we will also update here.

Update 8/24/2020 11:41 am EST: Zoom is in the process of deploying a fix for this issue, and some users may already see improvement.

Resolved 8/24/2020 12:23 pm EST: The fix is fully implemented, and users should now be able to start and join Zoom meetings and log into the Zoom portal.

Office 365 integration interruption [RESOLVED]

Between 10 am and 11:30 am on August 17, 2020, users were unable to use the Office 365 LTI for any course content in Canvas due to a high volume of requests.

Instructure became aware of the issue, and implemented a fix at 10:50 am, and users were able to access the tool again by 11: 30 am.

Canvas Community currently unavailable [RESOLVED]

The Canvas Community site is currently requesting a password when users attempt to access it. Instructure is aware of the issue and are working on resolving it. You can still view help articles on the Canvas Guides site.

Canvas inaccessible [RESOLVED]

When navigating to canvas.unf.edu or via link in myWings, users are receiving an error. CIRT and ITS are currently investigating the issue.
We will provide updates as we get more information.

Resolution: Instructure implemented a fix, and the issue should be resolved.
