09/20/2016 – SafeAssign Slow to Process Reports (9/21 UPDATE)

As of Wednesday, Sept 21st Blackboard is still reporting problems with their SafeAssign service which is resulting in longer than usual queue times for plagiarism reports.

– LMS Team

As of Tuesday, Sept 20th Blackboard has confirmed that papers submitted to the SafeAssign service are experiencing a delay.  No ETA has been given on when the problem will be resolved, and we will provide updates as we receive them from Blackboard.

8/7/2016 – Remote Proctor Now Update

RPN has made several changes to its services which are listed below. The URL for students to access RPN exams has not changed, please continue to use http://northflorida.remoteproctor.com.

If you have any questions or concerns do not hesitate to reach out to cirtlab@unf.edu

  1. Drop of System Check: We’ve eliminated the “System Check” which significantly shortens the pre-exam process; enabling the student to get into their exam much faster
  2. Revised Download Page: The new RPNow download page has been redesigned with smoother looks and the instructions are much easier to follow for students
  3. Improved User Instruction and Direction: Flash detection has been optimized for a streamlined user experience, and we’ve updated instructions to help the student through process. User installs Flash and the RPNow software will facilitate a restart in a semi-automated fashion
  4. Improved Web Accessibility Support (WAI): User interface has been enhanced to make the student interview process web accessible by screen readers (assistive technologies) to benefit users with disabilities
  5. Updated Interface to Improve Usability: New and modern design has been applied to web pages to improve usability and visual beauty to create a better user experience
  6. Better Flash Detection: Flash updated their installation process earlier this year, which allowed users to pick the type of Flash version they wanted via a drop-down. This update led to confusion for our users to know which version to install. This new release will automatically make the selections for the user to eliminate this issue. Note that users only see this option if they do not have Flash installed or do not have the required version

SOLO is Moving to Canvas

The Student Online Learning Orientation (SOLO) required by some DL programs and courses will be delivered via Canvas beginning July 12. SOLO is designed to prepare students for distance learning courses. The orientation specifically addresses effective learning strategies for an online student and orients the student to the technologies used in an online course. For more information about the SOLO and its implementation in Canvas, please see http://www.unf.edu/distancelearning/SOLO/.

5/23/16- Unable to Edit MYEDU Profile in Blackboard

Blackboard recently ended its contract with the MYEDU Profile provider that allowed users to build a social profile within Blackboard. This social profile allowed users to add a Picture, Major of Study, Degree Type, and other information to a Blackboard profile. In recent weeks, the profile works inconsistently, and in many cases, users cannot create or edit profiles. Changes made on the MYEDU website do not appear to propagate to Blackboard. We advise against use of the tool at this time.
