Canvas informed us they will be conducting a maintenance on the Chat tool starting the evening of Friday, May 31st and ending Saturday, April 1st. Canvas did not provide the start or end times for the maintenance, and they indicated the tool maybe unavailable for up to 24hrs. Canvas’ original message below.
Canvas Status Update
Updating Chat LTI in Canvas on March 31, 2017
We will be updating the Canvas Chat LTI tool in your region on Friday, March 31. We do not yet have a set time for exactly when this will start, but it will be done overnight, when fewer people are likely to be attempting to access it. We will let you know as soon as we have more information.
During this update, we will be migrating chat history from the existing Chat tool to the new one, so this update requires a scheduled maintenance window where Chat will be unavailable for up to 24 hours. If this tool is enabled for your institution, please note that your users will not be able to access the Chat tool throughout the maintenance window. They will instead see a maintenance page when they click to view the Chat tool. We hope that this update will take much less time than estimated, but please rest assured that Canvas as a whole will still be operational during this time.
Typically on our maintenance notifications we try to give a one-week notice at the very least. We apologize for the late notice on this one, but know the experience with this tool will be better once the update is complete. Once the dust settles, you’ll be able to enjoy a much-improved Chat experience in Canvas!
